According to reports from The Telegraph this morning, Chelsea could move for two England internationals this summer – Arsenal’s Theo Walcott and Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling, who are both amid lengthy contract disputes.

This Is Futbol brought you news of Chelsea’s interest in Walcott earlier this week, and it largely stems from the fact the Gunners have allowed the 26 year-old’s current deal to edge upon it’s final twelve months – although Arsene Wenger claimed on Monday that negotiations regarding an extension are underway, as reported by ESPN.

Meanwhile, Liverpool talisman Raheem Sterling has made public the reasons he’s yet to extend his Liverpool contract past 2017 despite rumoured offers of an £180k per-week salary, via an exclusive interview with the BBC. Unsurprisingly, it’s the Reds’ lack of silverware – not their ability to throw money at him – the England prodigy is most concerned with.

Improving their home-grown core is becoming a big issue for Chelsea, especially with long-serving club captain John Terry edging towards retirement and England international Gary Cahill not too far behind.

Signing Walcott and Sterling this summer would alleviate the demand for English talent for at least the next four or five years – but the potential double swoop would likely come at enormous cost.
