Everybody wants Gareth Bale

According to reports from Mirror Football yesterday evening, Chelsea’s incredible £100m bid for Real Madrid duo Gareth Bale and Raphael Varane has been rejected by the European champions.

The future of both plays has been open to speculation for much of the season; Bale feeling the brunt of the fans’ wrath after his disappointing performance in March’s El Clasico, and Varane finding himself a surprisingly sporadic member of Los Blancos’ starting Xi.

Having once described the latter as ‘the best young defender in the world’, Jose Mourinho is a known admirer of the prodigious France international, whilst Bale’s track record in the Premier League is about as good as it gets.

But Real Madrid have ‘rebuffed’ Chelsea’s advances, according to Mirror Football, which will be fantastic news for Manchester United fans.

As This Is Futbol revealed earlier this week, the Red Devils are planning an £80million summer bid for the former Tottenham star, who netted 26 goals during his final White Hart Lane campaign.
