Radamel Falcao

According to reports from The Metro this morning, Chelsea have emerged as shock potential suitors for struggling Manchester United forward Radamel Falcao.

The 29 year-old boasts a prolific career return of 228 goals in 380 appearances throughout his spells with River Plate, Porto, Atletico Madrid, Monaco and the Colombian national team, but he’s managed just four goals since arriving at Old Trafford in a loan deal last summer.

Due to his tepid Premier League form, the Red Devils are widely expected to reject the chance of signing the 5 foot 10 striker permanently this summer.

As This Is Futbol revealed earlier this week, Liverpool are considering picking up where United left off by signing Falcao permanently from Monaco at the end of the season – the striker seemingly holding little interest in returning to his parent club.

But reports this morning claim Chelsea have now weighed into the battle to sign the South American assassin. The Blues are yet to confirm the future of veteran forward Didier Drogba and may need to add to their forward cast this summer.

The Metro claim he could be available for just £25million this summer – less than half the fee Monaco paid for him two years ago.
