According to reports from Manchester Evening News this morning, Manchester United are keen to take advantage of Jurgen Klopp’s  resignation by launching a summer bid for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

It’s believed a number of top stars could follow Klopp out of Westfalen in the coming transfer window – including Marco Reus, Mats Hummels and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang – after the club’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

But Gundogan is of particular interest to the Red Devils; they lack depth in central midfield and could sign the 24 year-old on the cheap, with his contract verging upon it’s final year.

However, they’re by no means the only club interested in the 24 year-old, who made it into the 2012/13 ESM Team of the Year for his role in Dortmund’s march to the Champions League final against Bayern Munich.

As This Is Futbol informed you earlier this month, Arsenal and Manchester City are both targeting the German international too – and such wide demand could see Gundogan’s price-tag soar.
