As reported by The Express yesterday evening, Arsenal and Liverpool have been warned that rumoured target Mario Suarez could be on his way to Serie A this summer by the player’s agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon.

The 28 year-old hasn’t seen too much action at Vincente CalderonĀ this term, making just 24 appearances in all competitions in comparison to last year’s 43, but he’s been a regular component in an Atletico side that have claimed a Europa League title, a Copa del Rey and a La Liga title since 2012.

With only two years remaining on his contract and both clubs desiringĀ a more physical presence in their midfields, Arsenal and Liverpool are believed to amongst the two-cap Spain international’s more prominent suitors, but Suarez’ agent has now declared a move to Italy to be the more likely scenario.

“He was followed in January by three or four Italian teams, including Milan, Inter and Napoli,” Quilon said.

“At the moment I couldn’t say if there are any meetings planned with [AC Milan’s Adriano] Galliani, but it’s true that in the past he was pursued by Milan.

“We’re talking about an extraordinary player, who can represent the season’s best signing for any team.”

That could see the Gunners and the Reds switch to other targets, and reports this morning, also from The Express, claim Liverpool will move for West Ham’s Alex Song, currently on loan at Upton Park from Barcelona.
