Should Arsenal consider cashing in on Santi Cazorla?

Santi CazorlaLast week rumours had begun to surface linking Santi Cazorla with a move back to La Liga. Indeed, some were claiming that the diminutive Spaniard had already agreed pre-contract terms with Atletico Madrid.

Naturally enough, Arsenal fans were concerned. Santi Cazorla has been one of the club’s best performers this season. He’s pretty zippy for a 30-year-old, he’s great with both feet, he can help his side to dominate possession and he can chip in with a goal here and there.

This season he’s scored 8 times already, last year he scored 7 and the year before that, he scored 12. He’s a reliable penalty taker, but he’s pretty darn good in just about any dead ball situation.

But when you think of Santi Cazorla, you tend to think of his quality on the ball, when he’s running at players, beating two or three men at once and sending a pass into a dangerous area. He’s put in some spectacular performances this year.

If he were to leave, he would be severely missed.

Luckily, Arsene Wenger recently moved to calm the fans down. He said: ‘He extended his contract last year. I don’t think there’s anything to worry about, we’ve not been approached. The suggestion is only a suggestion; we have never been approached by anybody.’ (Source: The Metro)

Sounds good, right? Unfortunately, The Metro has also published an article claiming that Atletico Madrid ‘aren’t about to give up on Cazorla just yet’. Arsenal could have a decision to make during the summer transfer window.

It’s my hope that they rebuff any interest from the current La Liga champions. Santi may be 30-years-old now, but he’s still arguably the most creative footballer Arsenal have. His ability to turn out of dangerous situations is a serious asset for The Gunners.

Arsene Wenger would be foolish to let him go. Unless Madrid are considering making a bizarrely big offer, Arsenal shouldn’t pay any attention to their advances.

What’s your take? Should Arsenal refuse to sell Santi Cazorla at any price?

you should sell OZIL not CAZORLA when OZIL is not on the pitch CAZORLA is twice the player

  • William Osore says:

I totally disagree with statement….Cazorla is much better than any other Arsenal player and cashing in on him would be a trouble to the gunners side.
