Bony1Can you name the player who has scored the most Premier League goals in 2014? I think you’ll be surprised.

Luis Suarez moved on in the summer, thus ending his chance of topping that particular table, whilst Sergio Aguero has been suffering through a variety of different injury issues (he’s still done enough to come second, however, with 18 goals).

As a result the player to have scored more Premier League goals than anybody else in 2014 is Wilfried Bony. The Ivory Coast international has scored 20 goals in this calender year. Not too shabby, eh?

With that in mind, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see one of the Premier League big boys move in for him during the January transfer window. There are a host of different clubs out there who happen to have issues with their strike-force. Liverpool are chief among them.

This brings me to Liverpool legend, Jaime Carragher’s recent comments about Bony. Check them out: “I hope Liverpool sign him. If Liverpool sign [Mario] Balotelli for £16m, Bony is worth £20m or £25m. I wish Liverpool got him this summer and I hope they’re looking at him in the future.” (Source: The Star)

It sounds like Carragher’s a fan. It also strikes me that Bony may be the kind of player that Brendan Rodgers thought he was getting when he signed Mario Balotelli. The Italian looked like a natural goalscorer (he grabbed 30 in 54 for AC Milan), with the physical power and aerial dominance to make it big in the Premier League. Unfortunately, that hasn’t proven to be the case.

And yet we know that Wilfried Bony has all these qualities. In that sense, he’s the ideal January transfer target for Brendan Rodgers.

If he is available for £25m or under, The Reds would be foolish not to move in and snap him up. It’s not like they’re spoiled for choice upfront, is it? This is one case where I can’t help but feel that Jaime Carragher is right.

What’s your take? Would Wilfried Bony be the perfect solution for The Reds?

i dont think bony’s style of play suits liverpool, he lacks pace. if u review last season, liverpool thrives on d speed of suares and sturrigde. i think berahino suits liverpool best.

Bony is the man to save us, he is slow but sure and he knows how to find the back of the net.
