KramerDuring the 2014 World Cup, many football fans were surprised to see Christoph Kramer in action for Germany. In a team full of so much talent and so many household names, where had this livewire midfielder arrived from?

As it happened, Kramer proved to be a worthy addition to Germany’s squad. He’s a willing runner who breaks up opposition play, looks comfortable on the ball and isn’t afraid to thread a pretty pass or two about.

As you would expect many of European football’s biggest and best clubs started to register their interest in the player. The Metro claims that Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are all sniffing about. But which dog will have its day?

Kramer is currently enjoying the second year of a two year loan deal at Borussia Monchengladbach. He recently spoke out about his future and the links he’s received to other top clubs.

‘At the end of the season, I’ll go back to Bayer [Leverkusen]. Not because I feel it’s my duty, but because I’m convinced by their plans,’ he said. Some very big clubs have shown an interest in me but at the moment I’m very happy at Borussia.’

This is bad news for clubs like Arsenal, who could use a dynamic presence like Kramer’s in the centre-of-the-park (especially given their injury problems in recent months).

But it doesn’t put the kibosh on any potential deal. Kramer would clearly be happy enough to go back to Leverkusen, but what if Arsenal put a huge wage-packet on the table? Would he have his head turned then?

What if Arsenal offered Leverkusen enough money to convince them that selling was the right thing to do? Then Christoph Kramer wouldn’t have much choice in the matter.

This is a set-back for The Gunners, there’s no doubt about that, but there’s also no reason to feel disheartened. If Arsene Wenger is genuinely interested in this German talent, then he has all the tools he needs to make this deal happen.

What’s your take? Should Arsenal continue to chase Borussia Monchengladbach star Christoph Kramer?
