KrychowiakI’m convinced that if Arsenal had another defensive midfielder and a centre-back in their squad, they’d be challenging for the Premier League title this season. As it is, however, they’re languishing way behind the likes of Manchester City, Southampton and Chelsea.

This is unfortunate because The Gunners have an attack that’s worthy of silverware. If Arsene Wenger can sort out his back-four, perhaps he can bring his side back into contention.

This brings me to Arsenal’s continued interest in Sevilla’s highly-rated defensive midfielder, Grzegorz Krychowiak. He may have a name that’s difficult to pronounce, but he’s beginning to look like a more and more essential purchase by the day. Let’s just hope that Arsene Wenger is granted the funds necessary to close the deal.

After all, Krychowiak isn’t going to come cheap. The Express claim that Sevilla rate him at around £24m. That’s almost as much as Arsenal spent on Alexis Sanchez in the summer. Dare I suggest that the Polish ace could end up having as big an impact at The Emirates as the Chilean already has?

He hasn’t been at Sevilla for long, but he’s already building an excellent reputation for himself. He’s a diligent, hard-working fellow who covers a lot of ground during games, slams into tackles and breaks down opposition play. He’s often in the right place at the right time and that’s largely down to his well tuned footballing brain.

At 24-years-old, he’s already managed to accrue 23 caps for the Polish international side. Something tells me that there are many more to come.

With the aforementioned source reporting that Inter Milan is also interested in signing Krychowiak, Arsene Wenger will need to act quickly or risk missing out. Arsenal’s need has become too pressing. Let’s just hope that The Professor is ready to do battle with one of the greats of Italian football.

A signing of this nature could make all the difference. I have little doubt that Grzegorz Krychowiak would prove worthy of his large price-tag.

What’s your take? Is this Polish ace the right choice for The Gunners?
