How can Arsenal keep Alexis Sanchez happy?

Alexis SanchezArsenal have had a shambolic start to their season, but there has been one bright spot: Alexis Sanchez. It’s hard to remember a player adapting to a move to the Premier League quite so quickly. In 17 matches for The Gunners, Sanchez has scored 11 goals. This is all the more impressive when you consider that he’s been played in many different positions across Arsenal’s attack.

This is mostly down to the Chilean ace’s attitude. Sanchez works considerably harder than any other player in Arsenal’s squad. He hounds down defenders, runs all game, slams into tackles and battles for every ball. He’s a defender’s nightmare. Once he wins the ball back he’s got the technique and goal-scoring nous to cause all kind of problems.

Once the rest of this Arsenal team find their form, he’s going to get even better.

But that’s exactly the problem. Sanchez has hit the ground running, but the rest of his team are struggling. The Gunners’ entire midfield is lacking in form and their defense is lacking in options.

This has led some, such as former Arsenal legend Ian Wright, to suggest that the club is running a risk of losing the talented Chilean. Here’s what Wrighty had to say about the matter:

‘If Sanchez carries on at this rate, someone will pinch him off us next season.’ (via The Metro)

Of course, there’s very little point about worrying about this kind of thing at this stage. Still, Arsenal will need to keep Sanchez happy if he’s to continue to produce results. We don’t want him to grow despondent and to stop hassling and harrying for the ball in dangerous areas.

To achieve this, Arsenal need to start working harder defensively. Players like Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini should stop trying to win the ball high up the pitch. That’s not their job. They need to sit in front of the back four and prevent crosses (as Nacho Monreal is incapable of dealing with them).

When you can see a young, inexperienced player like Calum Chambers is getting caught out again and again, provide him with support.

More than anything else, however, Arsene Wenger needs to invest in defensive options during the January transfer window. It doesn’t really matter who’s brought in, as long as they’re impressive options who will clearly improve the team.

If The Professor fails to do that, then Alexis Sanchez (and the entire Arsenal fan-base) would be justified in any sense of indignation that he may feel. And if that happens, Wrighty may just end up being right.

What’s your take? Are Arsenal running a risk of losing Alexis Sanchez? What can they do to keep him happy?

Is Sanchez not happy? You guys I don’t understand if you have trained as a sports writer, how can you ask such foolish question? who told you he is not happy? why do you always want to talk about Arsenal players? what is your problem with Arsenal? I would appreciate you answer me and state the reason why you ask such foolish question.

  • Isart says:

This is not a foolish question. Any world class player can’t be really happy when his team mates let down his hard work. Have you tried to put in the place of this player? Alexis has huge ambitions. How do you feel knowing that you are doing the most effort for nothing? It’s like the Myth of Sisyphus. So this is not a journalistic complot against Arsenal, it’s just to state the obvious. In the other hand, I’m sure Alexis is very happy about Arsenal fans. They give him so much support. I hope Arsenal situation can get better. Alexis is a terrific player and human being, he deserves the glory of League and Champions.

Greettings from Chile (and, please, excuse me for my grammar).

    • Delford Magaya says:

Yes he has huge ambitions, but is not happy at Arsenal? I repeat again that is a foolish question. You might try to answer it in a different way but that is a foolish question. He is happy to be at Arsenal. Did you hear him saying he is not happy? No! “Not at all” so where does the question come from? Open you mind and have proper reasoning capacity before you write something.

Man you are a fucking idiot , he’s not saying he’s unhappy. The point he’s trying to get across is that if he keeps carrying the team week in week out to no avail, he will become unhappy.

  • Pat says:

Sanchez did mention nicely to tell those people who are saying that he’s not happy . I wonder special for the ex players of arsenal saying something like that . Stop that . He’s
Our best player and he’s enjoying been at arsenal .
