Arsenal may have signed both Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez in the summer (two players who have made an immediate impact in their new team), but they’re still struggling to gel as an attacking unit. The Gunners’ new recruits look like smart purchases, but too many older Arsenal players are producing diminished returns.
As such, it really wouldn’t surprise me at all if Arsene Wenger is considering shaking things up during the January transfer window. More so that any other Premier League manager, The Professor favours an impressive attacking line-up. He can’t be happy with the current look of his Arsenal side.
This brings me to The Metro‘s claim that Arsenal are monitoring the situation of Bayer Leverkusen winger, Karim Bellarabi. The German ace has been making real waves recently attracting the attention of Liverpool and Manchester United, as well as The Gunners. With competition this tough, can Arsene Wenger still get his man?
That remains to be seen. It’s not clear how much Bellarabi might cost, but Arsenal should have the cash necessary to drag any potential deal across the line. Have you seen how much they’re charging their season ticket holders?
As for Bellarabi, it’s clear enough that he’s the real deal. At 24-year-old, he’s really starting to come into his own. He’s scored 4 goals in 11 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen and has even collected a couple of caps for the German international team. Given the amount of talent in that squad, this strikes me as real evidence of his talent.
Arsene Wenger will know better than anybody else whether he’s the right fit for his team. Once he’s made that decision, all he needs to do is fight his way to the head of the queue. It won’t be easy to beat the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool to the punch, but it’s not an impossible task.
The Gunners will just need to put their money where their mouth is.
