ReusSince Luis Suarez left Liverpool in the summer, they’ve lacked that one player who’s capable of turning a game on its head at a moments notice. Some of you may be screaming Raheem Sterling’s name at the moment and whilst I’m impressed by his talent, I think it’s fair to say that he’s not yet at Suarez’s level. He was just as overawed against Real Madrid as everybody else. Would the Uruguayan have suffered in the same way?

It’s not that surprising that The Reds are struggling without their leading man. The loss of Daniel Sturridge to injury hasn’t exactly helped. It’s clear that Liverpool need a little more spark upfront. I’d argue that they should be on the hunt for a world-class forward when the transfer window opens.

This brings me to The Metro‘s timely claim that Liverpool could get their hands on Borussia Dortmund sensation, Marco Reus. If Brendan Rodgers can pull off this deal, he really will put the The Reds back on track.

Next summer, a clause will activate in Reus’s contract that will allow suitors to sign him for as little as £20m. When this happens, there are sure to be plenty of parties duking it out for his signature. Luckily, the aforementioned source suggests that Liverpool are right at the head of the queue.

The Metro claim that any club that offers him £180k-a-week or more, will get their man. That’s a lot of money (especially when you consider that The Reds will also have to pay his transfer fee), but it would make for an excellent investment.

Just look at the German’s goal-scoring record: In 95 appearances, he has scored 44 goals for Borussia Dortmund (including an absolute stunner in the last round of Champions League games). This, along with his confidence on the ball, pace, technical ability and attacking nous will make him a real asset for Liverpool.

Let’s just hope that Brendan Rodgers and co. are willing to cough up the requisite amount of cash to seal the deal.

What’s your take? Can Liverpool really pull off a deal for Borussia Dortmund winger, Marco Reus?
