Could this £6.4m Arsenal deal get them back on track?

Marcelo BrozovicArsenal fans must be sick of seeing their team concede from their opponent’s first attack in just about every game. It happened again against Hull City at the weekend, but Steve Bruce’s boys managed to compound the issue by also scoring a goal from their second attack and holding The Gunners to a 2-2 draw. To say it was a disappointing result, would be an understatement.

At the moment, Arsenal’s attack is huffing and puffing to very little effect and their defense is shaky. It’s not a great set-up. Let’s just hope that Arsene Wenger is ready to rectify the situation during the January transfer window. In fact, let’s hope that he’s already got a wish-list and that he’s ready to act as soon as possible.

This brings me to The Metro’s claim that Arsenal have already opened talks with Dinamo Zagreb regarding their defensive midfielder, Marcelo Brozovic. Is this Croatian ace the answer to Arsenal’s prayers?

The answer to that question isn’t clear. Brozovic has plenty of talent, but it’s worth noting that he’s only 21-years-old. It would be foolish for Arsenal to pin all their hopes on him.

Still, he’s a key man for Dinamo Zagreb and he’s already got 6 caps for the Croatian international team (including some appearances during the World Cup). The 5 foot 11 inch midfielder isn’t the most physically imposing footballer, but he’s an extremely hard worker, who takes up smart positions, makes a lot of interceptions, marks his man well and isn’t afraid to stick his leg in.

He reminds me a little bit of Mathieu Flamini in his prime (rather than the iteration of the Frenchman that’s currently strutting his stuff at The Emirates).

The aforementioned source claims that Inter Milan made a £3.5m bid for Brozovic during the summer, only for Zagreb to turn them down. It’s thought that £6.4m would be enough to close the deal. If Arsene Wenger is interested, he should have more than enough in the bank to close the deal.

Let’s just hope that by the time the January transfer window swings open, he’s ready to go.

What’s your take? Is Marcelo Brozovic the right option for The Gunners?
