Are Manchester United right to pursue this £60m double-deal?

Ross BarkleyIn pursuit of their former glories, Manchester United have shown a remarkable willingness to throw cash at their problems. After a rocky year, The Red Devils are in desperate need of finding some form and Louis Van Gaal opted to accelerate the process by spending big on players like Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao.

Unfortunately, he didn’t really address the lack of balance present within Manchester United’s squad. Despite his best efforts the Dutchman has failed to paper over the cracks in his side.

Most fans still feel that Manchester United are defensively weak (there’s plenty of evidence to suggest that they’re correct – it’s not like they’re spoiled for choice in this department) and that they could use more attacking nous from their midfield. Now that Shinji Kagawa has moved on and players like Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini continue to offer diminishing returns, it’s clear that something needs to be done in both areas.

This brings me to The Metro‘s claim that Louis Van Gaal will seek to redress the imbalance within his by bringing in two new players during the January transfer market. The two footballers in question are dynamic midfielder Ross Barkley and right-back Seamus Coleman. Together, they’d cost The Red Devils £60m.

I have to say, this deal wont help Van Gaal to distance himself from David Moyes. The Everton connection is clear for all to see.

Both players are remarkably talented and both players may fancy an opportunity to strut their stuff at a bigger club. Coleman would provide more competition for Rafael (who sometimes lets complacency slip into his game). Ross Barkley, on the other hand, is one of England’s most gifted young footballers.

He’s excellent on the ball, loves to take people on and he always seems to end up in dangerous areas. If he adds goal-scoring ability to his game, he’s going to be a real menace. He’s still got some improving to do, but he looks like a player that’s worth investing in.

So let’s hope that Louis Van Gaal and co. are willing to spend big once again during the next transfer window.

What’s your take? Are Seamus Coleman and Ross Barkley right for Manchester United?

If it was up to me i will definitely part with the £60million pronto. Both are young & future great players. Absolute bargains for £30million each.
