Mesut Ozil 1Whilst you’d never wish an injury upon a player, I can’t help but feel that Mesut Ozil’s came at the right time. His extended spell out on the sidelines must have come as a sweet relief for The German, who is probably glad to get some shelter away from the constant barrage of criticism that he’s been subjected to this season.

The German ace didn’t get any kind of pre-season whatsoever due to his national sides’ World Cup success and he’s struggled to find his best form as a result. Whilst his touch, control and passing range is still there, he seems to be a little light-footed at the moment and his tendency to give the ball away (or just fall over for no reason) has started to turn fans against him.

For a £42.4m signing, I think it’s fair to expect more. Still, Arsenal fans have little choice but to remain patient, back their man and hope he comes good. What else can they do? Getting irate about things just isn’t going to help.

The hope will be that Mesut Ozil returns from injury raring to go and quickly rediscovers his best form. Of course, that’s not the only way that things could play out.

This brings me to The Metro‘s claim that Ozil wants to quit The Emirates during the January transfer window. The source suggests that his next club will be Manchester City, who more or less use Arsenal as their feeder club nowadays (case in point: Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna).

I’ have to say, I’m not convinced about the truth of The Metro’s claims: would Ozil really do any better at Manchester City? Isn’t the pace and physicality of the Premier League what’s causing the issue at the moment? Moving to another British club is unlikely to change that.

Either way, The Gunners need to do everything they can to keep hold of their man. They made a major investment in him and they need to ensure that they get a good return from him. If Arsene Wenger is patient, he’ll unlock the German’s full potential and Arsenal will profit as a result.

Let’s just hope that The Professor doesn’t stumble into any poor decisions.

What’s your take? Could Mesut Ozil really end up at Manchester City?

There is absolutely no way Arsenal would sell Ozil! He is.one of our best players. His stats since joining are excellent. Looking at his assists, goals scored, key passes and positional play. Mich to many people surprise he covers more ground than most players. The only weak area is tackling back. His vision is far superior than the best players. His only problem is the media hate the fact he plays for Arsenal. It killed there narrative, we don’t spend money! Ozil is pure class and Wenger knows it.

Man!! Ozil is a great player.. But I think d problem wit Arsenal now is the bad coach that is never tactical. I feel for d players though, d coach is really frustrating…. And believe me. If he continues like dis still, we would neva again win any pin not even 2 talk of trophies… Arsene wenger needs 2 buy players and make substitutions when due, not until he see’s our opponents have re-equallized… Tanx…man!!!
