ReusRelease clauses are notoriously tricky devils to keep track of. Last we heard of Marco Reus, there was a release clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract that meant he would be available for as little as £20m from next summer.

Now The Metro are reporting that opposition clubs will have to bid £30m to make a deal happen. Funny how quickly things change isn’t it? Or more precisely, isn’t it funny how unverified information quickly gets picked up by the media and transformed into common knowledge?

Either way, £30m for a player like Marco Reus is still a bargain. He’s one of the best footballers in the world and at 25-years-old, he’s just about to hit his peak. Whoever snaps him up will be getting quite a player and quite a deal.

This brings me to Arsenal’s interest in the player. They’ve already snapped up Alexis Sanchez, who’s similarly talented, but I can’t help but feel that Marco Reus would elevate them to the next level.

Just look at the German’s statistics whilst in a Borussia Dortmund shirt. He’s made 92 appearances for his club side and has scored 43 goals. Last year he found the back of the net 23 times, from down the flank. He’s a force of nature in front of goal.

He’s also a full-back’s nightmare. He’s got bags of pace and plenty of technique. He’s not afraid to knock the ball past a defender and run past them and he’s certainly capable of beating his man with a well timed trick. I’d love to see him in the Premier League.

With reports suggesting that he’s ‘stalled’ on signing a new Borussia Dortmund deal, the door’s wide open for The Gunners to snap him up next summer. If they can pull off that feat, they really will have a side that’s capable of competing for major silverware.

Let’s just hope that Arsene Wenger feels the same way.

What’s your take? Is Marco Reus the right man for The Gunners? Could the German be tempted by a move to The Emirates?
