Surprise, surprise: if you play Mesut Ozil in his best position, he tends to produce the goods. The German ace is a man who needs to feel fully confident of his role in the team if he’s to perform to the highest possible standard.
That means he needs the full backing of his manager (something that Arsene Wenger is all too willing to give) and he needs to be played in the centre of the park. When he’s played out wide, he tends to offer diminishing returns. Worse still, he offers no protection for his full-back.
But playing like a proper number 10, he looks a lot more dangerous. Just ask Aston Villa, who saw Ozil produce a couple of killer minutes against them a week or so ago. The German superstar scored Arsenal’s first goal and set up their second. I’d call that a good day’s work.
Despite this, Mesut Ozil still has a long way to go before he’s rebuilt his reputation. Before his last couple of performances, fans and pundits alike were slating him for what he was offering up on a weekly basis.
With this in mind, I wonder what Arsenal fans will make of the news that Bayern Munich are considering making a move for Ozil in the January transfer window. The Metro claims that Pep Guardiola ‘believes he can persuade’ Arsene Wenger to sell his star player with a ‘big money’ offer. They also claim that Ozil seems to be ‘unsettled’ at The Emirates, but don’t offer much evidence for this.
In interviews Mesut Ozil has always been very complimentary about Arsenal, Arsene Wenger and the fans. Regardless, let’s continue…
It would take a ‘big money’ offer to convince Arsene Wenger to sell. I’m sure the Frenchman would want to make back what he spent on Ozil two summers ago (£42.4m). If Bayern Munich aren’t prepared to cough this up, I’m sure they’ll be laughed out of The Emirates.
As for whether Arsenal should entertain Bayern’s offer? Every man has their price. With Mesut Ozil struggling to make his mark in the Premier League, Arsenal should be keeping their options open (at the very least).
What’s your take? Would you sell Mesut Ozil to Bayern Munich?

Capital no! For what?
Please Wenger should play Mr. Ozil in his right position than forcing him to under perform by playing him in wrong positions.
