GotzeArsene Wenger always seems to be in the market for the latest young talent. Naturally enough, he’s been keeping an eye on German sensation Mario Gotze.

In fact, The Metro claims that Arsene Wenger has tried to sign the Bayern Munich ace twice, but failed (obviously) on each occasion. As a result, I’m sure that he’ll have been interested to see Goetze’s recent comments on his future:

“I am very happy to be playing at Bayern. But I might play for another 14 years and a move abroad would not be a bad thing. A foreign country would also be tempting for someone of my personality.” (Source: The Metro)

Gotze is 22-years-old, so it looks like he sees himself playing until he’s 36-years-old. With the majority of his career still out in front of him, there’s no real issue with him suggesting that he may fancy a change of scenery at some stage. There’s certainly nothing in his comments for Bayern Munich fans to get upset about.

But I’m sure that Premier League fans will have noted his comments with great interest, especially the suggestion that a he would fancy a move to a ‘foreign’ country. It’s great to see this level of ambition and adventure in a young player.

Of course, we are talking about the player who won Germany the World Cup. Mario Goetze has an absolutely huge amount of talent. He’s a nippy bugger, with great feet, who isn’t afraid to take other players on.

His finishing ability has improved immeasurably over the years. In his last season at Borussia Dortmund, he found the back of the net 16 times. Last season (his first for Bayern Munich), he scored 15 goals. He’s clearly a threat from the centre of the park (or out wide).

Arsenal have plenty of midfielders at the moment, but with players like Tomas Rosicky, Mikel Arteta and even Santi Cazorla getting on in age, they’ll definitely have room for another top talent somewhere down the line. What’s more the German ace looks like a perfect fit for The Gunners, with his quick, accurate passing, dribbling ability and attacking nous.

Wouldn’t it be something if Arsene Wenger were to finally agree a deal for this long-term target?

What’s your take? Could Mario Gotze still be on The Gunners’ wishlist?
