Federico Fazio (Sevilla)If you had to sum up Tottenham’s summer transfer activity with a single word, which one would you pick? How about ‘underwhelming’?

After their free-spending last summer, it’s not all that surprising that Spurs have been so frugal this time round. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s difficult to watch their rivals spend big as Tottenham opt to sit still.

The battle for a top four finish was difficult enough last season. This year looks like it’s going to be even tougher. Do Spurs have the tools they need to compete? I’m not so sure.

Luckily there’s a few days left in the summer transfer window for Daniel Levy, Mauricio Pochettino and co. to surprise us all. Let’s hope they’ve got a few irons in the fire.

This brings me to Spurs interest in Sevilla centre-back, Federico Fazio. Could this lanky Argentine prove to be exactly what Tottenham need?

Mauricio Pochettino has been thought to be chasing Villarreal centre-back Mateo Musacchio all summer long. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to seal a deal and it looks like he’s ready to move on. Luckily, Fazio is also a good option.

This isn’t the first time he’s been linked with a move to a Premier League club. This is probably because he’s got such a remarkable physical presence. For a start, he’s 6 foot 5 inches tall. He’s unstoppable in the air, strong in the tackle and he positions himself extremely well.

He reminds me somewhat of Arsenal centre-back Per Mertesacker. The German has taken to Premier League action like a duck to water. Here’s hoping that Federico Fazio would be able to match his success.

The Metro claim that Spurs are ‘lining up’ an £8m bid in the hope of tempting Sevilla into doing business. Let’s just hope that it’s enough. Tottenham’s need is clear – if they don’t act quickly, they could be caught with their pants down later this season.

What’s your take? Are you disappointed with Tottenham’s transfer activity? Would Federico Fazio represent a good addition to their squad?

“Underwhelming” why? They already bought good players last year. Now just find a way to make them click which looking good so far. And really Per is not playing that good.

Fazio a good player, well done spurs nice signing,
but daniel please snap up welbeck, with him we will have an awesome attack, please don’t let welbeck go, we need his fire power, with the money generated from the epl, and europa, think about the champions league next season, and what he could bring to our attack force this season, he is young and strong, just what we need in attack
