Manchester United seem to have been chasing Arturo Vidal for the entire summer, without actually having got any where. Perhaps it’s time for a change in tact?
Whilst I have little doubt in Vidal’s ability, or his potential to make an impact in the Premier League, it does look like Manchester United are fighting a losing battle here. Sometimes you just have to know when to give in.
It’s not like there aren’t other good options out there. Some may even be available for a considerably cheaper fee.
This brings me to The Red Devils’ continued interest in Inter Milan’s tricky midfielder, Fredy Guarin. Does the Colombiam international represent the perfect alternative to Vidal?
He certainly looks like a good option. The Metro recently ran an article suggesting that Manchester United had already missed the deadline (set by Juventus) to sign Arturo Vidal. As a result, Louis Van Gaal is now thought to be strongly considering a move for Fredy Guarin.
This could be a good thing for The Red Devils. Guarin proved how good he was over four seasons at FC Porto. During his time in the Primeira Liga, he made 63 appearances and scored 11 goals. Since moving to Serie A to play for Inter Milan, he’s been able to replicate this form. In 64 appearances, he’s scored 8 goals, in a League that’s renowned for it’s tough, organised defenses.
He’s also an established presence in an extremely talented Colombian international side. He’s already got 54 caps.
He’s quick along the turf, he’s got bags of technical ability and he’s a goal threat. It’s easy to see why Manchester United might be interested. After all, when it comes to his playing style, he’s not a million miles away from Arturo Vidal.
In an article published by Football Italia, it was recently claimed that Inter Milan are prepared to sell if somebody approaches them with an 18m euro offer (£14.4m) . That’s well within Manchester United’s wheelhouse. Let’s just hope that The Red Devils aren’t too hung-up on Arturo Vidal. Isn’t it time to move on?

Is he a defensive midfielder….coz thaz what we need. It’s not about buying bur buying the right player.
United have to move on from d chase of vidal, fredy quarin,Alex song & nigel dejong are better options.

We just need to get this thing over too much drama,Manu behaving as misers if we have the money why not bid for the players let them turn it down then we can say at least they tried
