KhediraWith the end of the transfer window fast approaching, fans are waiting with baited breath to see what Arsene Wenger does next.

He’s already made four great signings. He’s brought in Alexis Sanchez, Calum Chambers, Mathieu Debuchy and David Ospina. All four of these footballers will have a role to play over the coming season.

But could one or two further recruits help guide Arsenal to achieve Premier League success this year? Well, it certainly couldn’t hurt their chances, could it?

This brings me to Arsenal’s continued interest in Real Madrid’s defensive midfielder, Sami Khedira. Is now the right time for Arsene Wenger to close this deal?

As The Metro note, Khedira’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti seems to be uncertain about his player’s future. Check out these quotes:

“Khedira’s situation is different than Di Maria’s situation. He has just one more year to go on his current contract and he has only recently come back from a serious injury. We will see what happens, but he has not requested a transfer.”

In other words, everything’s still all up in the air. Anything could happen between now and when the transfer window closes. The good news is that Carlo Ancelotti hasn’t immediately ruled out any possibility of Khedira leaving The Bernabeu. The door has been left open for Arsenal to slip inside.

Given the age of Arsenal’s current defensive midfielders, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini, a new recruit certainly looks like a smart idea. What’s more, given Khedira’s stature in the game, he looks like the very best option out there.

Remember when Germany beat Brazil 7-1 during the World Cup (how could you forget?)? Sami Khedira was their best player on that day. He’s capable of contributing from an attacking point of view and adding further levels of defensive nous to the squad. He’s a good all-rounder and he’s sure to fit in neatly to Arsenal’s team.

Football Espana claim that Khedira could be available for as little as £12m, thanks to his contractual situation. If that’s true, Arsenal would be foolish not to snap him up.

What’s your take? Should The Gunners finally look to seal a deal for Sami Khedira?
