Radamel FalcaoWhen Liverpool lost Luis Suarez earlier in the summer, most fans held out hope that they’d bring in a big name to replace him.

Mario Balotelli has a big personality, but compared to Luis Suarez, he’s a small fry. He’s a good addition to the squad, but he may not be the answer to Liverpool’s prayers.

Brendan Rodger’s focus has been on bringing in a selection of good players, rather than bringing in one or two great ones. But this could be about to change.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll have been following Liverpool’s pursuit of Radamel Falco with great interest. The Monaco centre-forward is one of the world’s best in his position and it’s exciting to see The Reds get linked to a player with this level of talent.

If Brendan Rodgers can somehow close this deal, I’m not sure that Liverpool will end up missing Luis Suarez at all.

The Metro claim that Liverpool are willing to offer Monaco £12m to take Radamel Falcao on loan for a single season. Given that most loan-deals have no fee attached to them, this would represent a serious signal of intent on the part of Liverpool Football Club.

But here’s the kicker: the aforementioned source claims that Brendan Rodgers is keen to insert a clause into the deal that means Liverpool can sign him for £31m next summer. If he succeeds, he’ll have pulled off a transfer masterstroke. £43m for Radamel Falcao in the current footballing landscape is an absolute bargain.

Just look at his goal-scoring record. Whilst with Atletico Madrid he scored 70 goals in 91 appearances. During his time at FC Porto he found the back of the net 72 times in 87 games. He’s an unstoppable force in front of goal.

He’s great with both feet and he’s unbeatable in the air. Given his physique and fitness levels, he looks like he’s custom built for Premier League action. If Liverpool can get their hands on this man, they’ll be onto a winner.

I won’t believe that this deal is possible until I see it up there on The Reds official site, but I’ll certainly be keeping my fingers crossed.

What’s your take? Could The Reds really wrap up a deal for Radamel Falcao?
