ReusOver the last couple of seasons The Gunners have made a couple of massive leaps forward when it comes to their transfer policy.

Arsene Wenger is a manager who’s renowned for snapping up bargains, rather than bringing in fully-formed, world-class players. Over the last two summers, however, he’s demonstrated that he’s ready and willing to change.

Last summer he brought in German maestro Mesut Ozil, who cost The Gunners £42.4m. In doing so, he smashed Arsenal’s previous transfer record.

This summer, he made a signing that’s almost exciting: he brought in Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona for a fee approaching £35m. Two big signings, only one year apart? That’s distinctly un-Arsenal like, isn’t it?

Well, if The Metro are to be believed, The Gunners will complete yet another big signing next summer, by sealing a deal for Borussia Dortmund’s wing-wizard, Marco Reus.

The German ace has a £19.8m release clause written into his Dortmund contract that will become active next summer. Given that he’s refused all offers of a new deal, it looks like he’ll be available for a bargain price in a years time. It wouldn’t surprise me if Arsenal were one of the suitors.

What’s more, The Metro carry quotes from Dortmund’s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke, who seems uncertain about Reus’s future:

“We will have to wait and see whether we can keep hold of Marco. All I can say is that I know him really well and it’s not about money with him.”

That suggests that he’ll want Champions League action and a chance at winning silverware. Having just won The FA Cup, will The Gunners hold some appeal for the German?

Arsenal fans will certainly hope so. Reus is the real deal. He’s got pace, presence and technical ability. He’s also a deadly force in front of goal. In terms of talent, he’s not too far behind somebody like Gareth Bale. It can’t be long until he lands at a big club.

Are Arsenal big enough to close this deal? We’ll just have to wait and see.

What’s your take? Where does Marco Reus’s future lie?

Wenger will let you down. It is in his nature to let you down. He will let you down. That’s why Arsenal will be so close yet so far. He will let you down

It won’t happen as recent events(Giroud injury, lack of decent cover in attack and mid-field,lack of purposeful activity in transfer market) will mean Arsenal to miss out on Champions League football this year and will not qualify for Europe next year. By next summer there will be a host of clubs after Reus and Wenger does not like a bidding war
