Adrien Rabiot (PSG)PshopWith the summer transfer window about to slam shut, The Gunners continue to get linked to young, exciting, attacking talent. This is a little bit curious – after all, it’s not like they’re short of options in this department.

But Arsene Wenger has a reputation to uphold. He’s known for scouring Europe for young up-and-comers. If he finds a player he likes, he’s often not afraid to go for it – regardless of the way that his squad’s currently made-up.

It’s not like Arsenal really needed to sign Mesut Ozil last summer. They already had a bucket-load of attacking midfielders. But Arsene Wenger went for it anyway, simply because he likes the cut of Ozil’s jib. Who’s to say that a similar thing won’t happen this summer?

This brings me to The Gunners’ continued interest in Paris Saint Germain star, Adrien Rabiot. The 19-year-old French midfielder is yet another technically gifted, crafty attacking talent. Is it any real surprise that Arsenal are interested? The Metro even suggest that The Gunners could be on the verge of a £5.6m deal.

Rabiot has a single year left on his PSG contract and could thus be available for a bargain price. This deal of looking all the more Arsenal-esque by the moment.

Even the player’s manage, Laurent Blanc, seems to be uncertain about Rabiot’s future. Check out these quotes, courtesy of The Metro:

‘I want Adrien Rabiot to remain in Paris. The decision is not mine, he might leave the club. [But] he has had an offer to extend his contract with PSG.’

Last season Rabiot made 12 starts for PSG. There just doesn’t seem to be enough space for him in their midfield. Whether things would be any different for him at Arsenal remains to be seen, but Arsene Wenger is renowned for giving youth a chance.

I’m sure that he wouldn’t bring a young talent like this to The Emirates, only to make him waste away his career on the bench. If this deal does go through, it’s because Arsene Wenger has a plan for the youngster. I can’t wait to see it enacted.

What’s your take? Do The Gunners really need to seal a deal for Adrien Rabiot?

Wenger will buy nobody. He has lied to the supporters and is in the process of betraying them. The team needs a Centre Forward, a Centre Back and a Sitting Defensive Midfielder. There are 4 and a half days of the transfer window left. At the beginning of the transfer window Arsenal needed a CB, a DM and a Striker, at the end of the transfer window Arsenal still need a CB, a DM and a Striker. Wenger has betrayed the Club, it’s players and the Supporters. He is a stoneface liar.
