BonyNow that Luis Suarez has packed his bags, Brendan Rodgers needs to get busy in the transfer market. More precisely, he needs to continue to do exactly what he’s been doing all summer long: finding good targets, making smart bids and bringing players in.

If he continues to bring in players who are as good as Adam Lallana, I’m sure The Reds will come back just as strong (if not stronger) next year. With Brendan Rodgers in charge, I’m not afraid to bet on red.

Unfortunately, one of The Reds major targets is proving a little hard to catch. The Mirror claim that Liverpool are still on the tail of Swansea City supremo, Wilfried Bony, but that the player’s price-tag continues to rise and rise.

It was thought that The Swans were asking for £19m in return for Bony. Now club chairman, Huw Jenkins is asking for more money. The aforementioned source claims that £19m should be enough to trigger a release clause in Bony’s contract, but as Liverpool fans will know all too well, this often isn’t enough to convince a club to sell any more.

Still, there’s plenty of evidence to suggest that Wilfried Bony is a player worthy of a mammoth price-tag. Let’s start with his goal-scoring record. Whilst playing for Eredivisie side, Arnhem Vitesse he scored a remarkable 53 goals in 73 games.

Whilst scoring in the Dutch League is one thing, transferring his goal-scoring nous to the Premier League is another. Luckily, he’s taken to it like a duck to water. In his first season on English soil, he scored 25 goals in 48 games. That’s a fantastic return. If he gets better next season, he’s going to be nigh on impossible to stop in front of goal.

That’s why Liverpool are right to consider spending bid in this case. Whilst he’s not got Luis Suarez’s technical ability, he’s physically tough, difficult to dispossess and his goal-scoring record speaks for itself. It’s not like The Reds are short of cash this summer. Let’s just hope that Brendan sets enough aside for Bony.

What’s your take? Should The Reds spend big in order to wrap up a deal for Wilfried Bony?

Huw Jenkins will never give Liverpool Bony for nothing less than £25.000.000 Million Pounds, and frankly Bony just isn’t worth that kind of money. He has been very cleaver Jenkins, getting Gomis on a free so he can sell Bony too the highest bidder. As soon as I new Gomis was going to swansea,I new Jenkins was selling Bony too the highest bidder…Good Business but the man is a snake in the grass, and I’d rather Liverpool went elsewhere because I begrudge giving him anymore money after the SHAMBOLIC idiot joe allen ( Who is a waist of space ) £15.000.000 Million Pounds my ass ;-(
