Have Liverpool already wrapped up this £10.3m deal?

OrigiHaving sold Luis Suarez for an astronomically huge fee, Liverpool are now on the hunt for the next big thing. Replacing the Uruguayan is likely to be impossible, but that won’t stop Brendan Rodgers from hunting down options who can improve his side.

Daniel Sturridge and Rickie Lambert are both natural goalscorers who will provide The Reds with plenty of fire-power next season. Then there’s Loic Remy who will add pace and technique to Liverpool’s attack. In the long-term, however, The Reds are going to need another couple of options in the centre-forward department.

As it happens, it looks like they’ve already agreed a deal for another exciting young forward. According to Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad (via The Mirror), Liverpool have already agreed a fee for Lille’s prodigious striker, Divock Origi.

The source even carry quotes from former Ajax star Jan Mulder who claims that The Reds have already agreed terms for the player. Check them out:

“€13million is an unbelievably low price. It’s ridiculous. Origi is a winner, and at the World Cup I enjoyed watching him more than Hazard. He has style, technique, and makes intelligent runs, a bit like Marco van Basten.”

That’s right. Origi may well cost Liverpool as little as £10.3m. If that’s the case, then it looks like Brendan Rodgers has just sealed yet another bargain.

Whilst I’m not sure that Origi outshone Hazard at the World Cup and think it’s a little too early for Marco van Basten comparisons, it’s clear that he’s a handy young player.

He may only have scored 6 goals in 35 appearances for Lille last season, but he more than makes up for it with other aspects of his game. He’s got bags of pace, technique and he’s not afraid to take defenders on. His ability at a young age is a little frightening. There’s a reason why he was selected for the Belgium international side for multiple World Cup run-outs.

The Mirror suggests that Origi will stay with Lille on loan for another year, before moving to Anfield next summer. That’s a shame, but it will provide him with an opportunity to continue earning regular first team football, bolstering his development.

If he’s as good as people say he is, then the summer of 2015 can’t come soon enough.

What’s your take? Is Divock Origi going to make an impact at Anfield? Is he another Brendan Rodgers bargain?

@Chukwuma, I sharply disagree with you here. We never sat anyplace to disagree with his signing but i think you have your own right to freedom of thought but like him ok. He’s young and skillful. However, i think we need an addition at the back and another quality upfront.
