Arturo Vidal (Chile)Now that Louis Van Gaal’s started work at Old Trafford, it’s about time that Manchester United started bringing in some new signings.

Yes, both Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw have already signed-on, but you can’t help but feel that bigger deals are still on the way. Let’s hope so any way.

Take, for instance, Manchester United’s interest in Juventus ace Arturo Vidal. The Chilean international could prove to be the most exciting signing The Red Devils make this summer – if they’re able to close the deal.

Every day the papers seem to report something different about Vidal. One day he’s on his way to Old Trafford, the next day the deal has been called off. It’s difficult to know where we really stand.

That’s why it was nice to see the player himself pop up a few days ago to provide a summary of his situation. Check out these quotes, courtesy of The Mirror:

“I’ve heard of interest from Real [Madrid], from [Manchester] United, but that’s for someone else to worry about. It’s difficult to talk about another team when you already play for a big one. I have run out champions three times here, I have respect for my teammates.”

“Perhaps I will stay the rest of my life at Juventus. When I arrive in Italy, I’ll talk with the coach and we’ll see what happens. Right now the only thing I know is that I have seven or eight days of holiday left.”

Whilst he’s clearly very respectful of his team, he doesn’t exactly rule out a move away does he? If the only thing he knows for sure is that he’s only got a certain amount of holiday left, then he clearly doesn’t know where his future lies. Perhaps the time’s right for Manchester United to swoop in?

I wonder how Vidal will have taken to his manager, Antonio Conte packing his bags and leaving The Old Lady. Could he be willing to follow in his footsteps?

According to The Express, Vidal could be available for as little as £34m. That’s a bargain price for a good player. Let’s hope Manchester United are able to stick the landing with this one.

What’s your take? Where does Arturo Vidal’s future lie?
