vidalWhilst Louis Van Gaal’s arrival at Old Trafford has brought with it a certain amount of cheer, it’s clear that there’s still work to be done on Manchester United’s squad.

The Red Devils have already signed Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera, but these don’t strike me as players that you can build a Premier League title-charge on. If Van Gaal is feeling ambitious, he’ll probably need to turn to the transfer market.

More precisely, he’ll need to spend big and bring in a couple of world class footballers. If he can do this, then Manchester United will be in a considerably stronger position next season.

This brings me to the rumours concerning Arturo Vidal. This deal has been on and off, hot and cold, so many times that it’s difficult to keep track. But according to The Mirror, a sensational £35m deal could be back on the cards. Should Manchester United fans start to get excited?

It’s difficult to tell how real these rumours are, but Vidal is certainly a player that’s worthy of all the plaudits he’s been getting in recent years.

The Chilean ace is a true athlete and a highly competitive presence in the middle of the park. He’s also pretty handy when he’s on the ball, finding gaps in between defenders and making things happen in the final third.

It’s worth noting that he’s a highly effective individual: In 95 appearances for Juventus, he has found the back of the net 28 times. He’s also scored 8 goals for his international side. Manchester United could certainly use his goal-scoring nous next season.

Vidal strikes me as a complete midfielder. He’s well rounded enough that I don’t see him struggling to adapt to Premier League football. He’s the kind of player who can come in and make an instant impact.

That’s why he’s worthy of his £35m price-tag. Let’s just hope that Arturo Vidal is up for a move to Manchester United and that Louis Van Gaal is able to close the deal.

What’s your take? Should Manchester United look to finally close a deal for Arturo Vidal?

It should have been done weeks ago. Yet again, Wooden Ed is proving inept at dealing with transfers. If this is left much longer it is just asking another club to come in and buy him.
