CasemiroIf the last half of this season has proven anything, it’s that this Arsenal squad is way to thin to complete on multiple fronts. Whilst the club hung onto the top of the Premier League table for quite some time, they let their grip slip in the business end of the season and they’ve fallen pretty far out of contention.

FA Cup progression aside, it has been a tough season for the Gunners. It started with such promise, but has delivered very little. Unless Arsene Wenger invests in his squad and starts rounding it out, I fear that things could remain this way for quite some time.

I look at the way that young players like Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho have made the difference for Liverpool this season and I’d love to see the Gunners take a similar approach when it comes to their squad options. Arsene Wenger’s famous for favouring young players and I hope this approach doesn’t desert him in the summer transfer window.

According to The Mirror, Arsenal are interested in two young Real Madrid players. The first is their 22-year-old midfielder Casemiro (or Carlos Henrique Jose Francisco Venancio Casimiro, if you prefer his full name) and their 21-year-old striker, Alvaro Morata.

Both players have been fringe players for Real Madrid, with Casemiro making 20 appearances and Morata 28 (finding the back of the net 7 times). That’s not a great return for a striker, but it’s worth remembering that he’s still young and that most of these appearances have been as a substitute.

In fact, given all the talent that’s currently present at the Bernabeu, it’s a wonder that either of these players are getting any game time at all. It’s a real testament to their ability at a young age. It’s also why I feel they’d provide a good fit for this Arsenal squad.

The Mirror suggest that Morata would cost £12m, whilst Casemiro is valued at a considerably cheaper £5m. In other words, these players are well within the Gunners’ financial wheelhouse. Now it’s just up to Arsene Wenger to close the deals.

What’s your take? Would this Real Madrid duo be a good addition for Arsenal?

If Arsenal can sign both players for 17 million that would be amazing. I doubt that will or even can happen.

I’m not sure Arsenal need Casemiro; I admit I don’t know much about him. Morata, on the other hand, has all the attributes of a potential star. Even so, I think Arsenal need to bring in an established professional at striker, along with an up and comer. Mario Mandzukic and Morata would be perfect. If Arsenal keep Giroud, who is unfairly criticized, bring in Mandzukic and Morata, and bring Joel Campbell back from Olympiakos they will have a strike force capable of winning the title. They could then send Sanogo out on loan to prove himself.

If Casemiro is capable of playing on the wings, then he is someone to be interested in. I would rather have Antoine Griezemann or Julian Draxler; depending on who else Arsene Wenger plans to bring in, but a winger, especially one with blistering pace and a real desire to play wide, is a real need to the Gunners.

Casemiro is an accomplished def,mid with a a quick vision to play a counter attacking pass. He is also very versitile can play both sides and also att/mid. After all its difficult to replace a duo of Modric + Alonso , his age is also a plus , for a mere £5mil he would be a bargain by todays standards.
He would be a good addition and would add more steel to the midfield. Along with morata another strker possibly Re my ( on loan QPR ) another def replace Monreal . Hope you view caserimo as a def mid in future arsenal side he would replace arteta in a nice swap deal with barkley oh (never going to happen).
