Remy CabellaManchester United seem to be seeing out the season a little better than they started it, but they’re still essentially in the same place. It’s quite clear that this squad isn’t good enough to compete at the top of the Premier League. No level of tinkering or tactical acumen is going to change that.

Sure, David Moyes deserves his fair share of criticism for what’s happened this season, but I’d like to see how things go for the former Everton man next season, when he’s got a team that’s made in his image, rather than the image of United’s former manager.

With players like Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini beginning to make an impact, it’s clear that United are improving. If David Moyes brings in another two-or-three super signings this summer, who knows what The Red Devils will be capable of?

It’ll certainly be interesting to see who Moyes targets in the summer transfer market. One player on his list (according to HITC Sport, that is) is Montpellier’s highly-regard young talent, Remy Cabella.

In truth, Cabella has been linked to a number of Premier League clubs over the last 18 months. At just 24-years-old, he’s finally started to come into his own, showcasing his remarkable ball control, strong dribbling ability and rapid speed of though.

This season he’s been particularly effective, scoring 10 goals in 29 games for Montpellier. He’s also chipped in with 6 assists. Yes, he plays in Ligue 1, but that’s a pretty fantastic return for a midfielder.

And it looks like he’s now ready for a new challenge. Check out these quotes, courtesy of the aforementioned source:

“Now I know 90 per cent that this is my last season at Montpellier. If a club makes a proposal that interests me, Montpellier will let me go. I ask myself from time to time ‘is it good to go abroad now and discover something else? Or is it better to stay in France.”

Manchester United certainly have the money to make a deal happen. I’m sure that Old Trafford would have plenty of appeal for a young star like Cabella, regardless of the lack of Champions League action.

Now it’s up to Moyes to drag the deal across the line and turn the club’s fortunes around. Fingers crossed.

What’s your take? Would Remy Cabella be a good option at Manchester United?
