Lazar MarkovicLazar Markovic may be young (he’s just 20-years-old), but he’s already starting to cultivate a real name for himself.

The Serbian wing-wizard currently plays for Primeira Liga side, Benfica, where he’s added some serious pace, technique and guile down their flanks.

He’s made 34 appearances this season and has found the back of the net 7 times. Since his move from Serbian club Partizan, he’s started to catch the eye of pundits from across Europe and when that starts to happen, it’s only a matter of time before other club’s start circling the player. How long until another European powerhouse makes a bid for the young man?

According to The Mirror, Liverpool are interested in the player. The source claims that The Reds have already met with the player’s agents and that a summer move could be on the cards.

But before you get too excited, it’s worth noting that The Mirror claim he could cost Liverpool as much as £30m. That’s a whole lot of cash.

Still, this is clearly an area that Brendan Rodgers is looking to improve upon. Liverpool have been seriously impressive this season but there are some weaknesses in the squad. The Reds loaned Victor Moses from Chelsea, but the former Wigan man has failed to make any kind of meaningful impact. A bit of investment down the flanks certainly wouldn’t go amiss.

But £30m? Can Liverpool really afford to spend that much on a player who’s not yet the complete product?

We’ll see soon enough. All that really matters is whether Markovic would provide a decent return on investment.

The 20-year-old is prodigiously talented. If he continues to develop at this rate, he’s going to become a real star. What’s more, I can’t help but feel that Anfield would be the best place for him at this stage in his career.

Benfica are a good side, but the Portuguese domestic league isn’t particularly competitive. The Premier League is an entirely different kettle of fish and The Reds are finally in a position where they’re starting to compete at the top.

And with Brendan Rodgers in charge, they’re playing some fantastic attacking football. What better place for a player like Lazar Markovic to learn his trade?

Now we just need to see whether Liverpool have £30m spare.

What’s your take? Is this Serbian superstar a good option for The Reds?

£30milion very expensive and too big risk for player like him.Until now only with a little contribution but his price more than £30milion.Much better if LFC can chasing players like Koke,Isco,Thomas Mueller and Ross Barkley.Much2 better and worth it.
