nani-kagawaThe torrid season of The Red Devils has become more miserable as they face an uphill task of eliminating the reigning European champions from the Champions League to secure a place in the semi-final.

Manchester United are set to face Bayern Munich today. So how do a battered Manchester United side take the fight to the almighty and all-conquering German giants? The solution to the dilemma may well be available within the current Manchester United squad. Enter LUIS NANI and SHINJI KAGAWA.

Let us rewind to the 2009-10 season where Manchester United faced Bayern Munich in the quarter-final clash. The English giants were knocked out on away goals but not before, they tore apart the German champions in the second leg scoring three in the process.

Nani rose to the occasion at that time. Now he’s an enigmatic figure who draws mixed opinions every time you talk about him. The tricky Portuguese speedster singlehandedly engineered a comeback scoring twice in the second leg, only for Manchester United to miss out on away goals.

On the other hand, majority of the Bayern Munich fans still remember the name that terrorized them for two years, Shinji Kagawa. The Japanese magician faced the German giants numerous times in the Bundesliga raking up assists and goals alike.

He has finally begun to show the signs of regaining the same lethal form in the past two weeks for Manchester United, linking up beautifully with Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata.

It would be irrational to suggest that Nani and Kagawa would carry The Red Devils past the most dominant team in Europe by themselves. Nevertheless, lining them up against the Germans would certainly increase Manchester United’s chances. After all, we all know some players just love to play against certain teams. And history suggests that Bayern Munich bring out the best in Manchester United’s Luis Nani and Shinji Kagawa.

Crunch fixtures are won or lost in the mind. Manchester United could well draw first blood by throwing the two creative geniuses into the game and creating some mental pressure. It may not be enough, but it’d be a good start.

i always thought so myself and hopefully kagawa will feature against bayern (hopefully in no.10 role) but i doubt nani’s chances given that moyes hasnt played him yet after his return to fitness even against teams like aston villa and west ham when we won comfortably
