Loic RemyLiverpool, more so than just about any other club, know the virtues of having an in form striker.

Not only have they played witness to a scintillating (and at times despicable) season from Luis Suarez, but they’ve also seen how adding Daniel Sturridge to their squad has improved things.

Suarez, Liverpool’s Uruguayan ace, has been in fine form all season long, with his expert technical ability guiding him into positions where he was able to tuck the ball away with ease.

For a wildly inconsistent shooter, he often finds himself with the goal at his mercy. This can’t be a coincidence.

He’s a real talent, but it’s clear he needs help. Liverpool can’t survive off of his goal-scoring form alone. That’s why Brendan went out into the transfer market last January, to sign Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea.

And his impact at Anfield has been instantaneous. He found his shooting boots in his first few games at the club, only to have things derailed slightly by injury.

But his substitute appearances against Chelsea over the weekend proves his worth. He came on at half-time to provide a goal and an assist for Suarez. What’s most impressive is that he seems to have formed an instant partnership with the Uruguayan, one that has already borne plenty of fruit.

So yes, Liverpool know the importance of having a strong forward line. Their lack of consistency in this department is one of the key contributing factors for their poor season. We can only hope that Brendan Rodgers makes further additions this summer.

According to The Daily Mail, Liverpool are ready to meet Loic Remy’s release clause when QPR get relegated (and that does seem to be a ‘when’ now, not an ‘if’).

Remy only joined QPR back in January, for an £8m fee, but can move on for the same price this summer, thanks to a clause in his contract.

He earned his reputation back in France, but five goals in nine appearances at QPR, a struggling club, is nothing to turn your nose up at. He’s a pacey forward, with ample technical ability and bucket loads of confidence in front of goal.

He’s not too dissimilar from Daniel Sturridge and I think he’d have a similar impact at Liverpool. For £8m, he’d certainly be worth a go, especially if he’s willing to take pay cut.

What’s your take? Should Liverpool be chasing relegation fodder?
