When Alexis Sanchez was still plying his trade at Udinese, he was considered to be one of the best young players in football.
Whilst it’s not fair to say that his reputation has plummeted since joining Barcelona, I think we can safely say that some of the sheen has come off an otherwise promising career.
In Serie A, he looked like he was going to be a world-beater. He had pace, a bag of tricks and a willingness to take his man on. Whether he used his tricky feet to cut inside, or went round the outside and turned the after-burners on, Alex Sanchez always seemed to be able to get in dangerous areas and was able to turn a game on its head.
In La Liga, however, he often looks like a little boy lost. Whilst he’ll run and run and work his heart out, this enthusiasm has yet to translate into anything meaningful on the football pitch. The main trouble seems to be his finishing.
I’d compare him to the likes of Arsenal’s Gervinho (though perhaps not quite as bad as the Ivorian!) in his ability to beat his man, get in a goal-scoring position and fluff his lines. Even when he’s set-up by his Barcelona team-mates, he often manages to spoon it over.
Perhaps it’s the pressure of playing for Barcelona at a young age (he’s 24-years-old) or having such a weight of expectation. One thing’s for sure: the player himself can’t be entirely happy with his situation and I wouldn’t be surprised if Barcelona were considering their options down the wings.
So it’s not all that surprising to see Sanchez get linked to clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City (source: The Mirror).
But if he’s not good enough for Barcelona, he’s probably not good enough for Manchester City. Liverpool on the other hand…
Whilst players like Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson have improved this season, I still feel that Liverpool can do better in this area. Likewise, the Chile International may feel that a move to a place like Anfield could re-trigger his confidence.
We all know that he’s capable of bigger and better things and that he could go on to be a world-beater. He just needs the right environment to continue his development as a player. So how about it Brendan, can you make this one happen?
What’s your take? Should Liverpool seal the deal for Alexis Sanchez?

Never gonna happen,Barcelona will want at least £24 million for him.And they probably would want Suarez in exchange, because they think they can get away with murder being Barcelona…LFC need too make sure that if Suarez leaves,we first make it hard for them too get Suarez, and next stand firm at £50 million pound ? He’s well worth it,he’s only behind MESSI & Ronaldo ???
No way. Alexis is not that good as his price indicates & he is too small for PL. I would have gone for Hulk from Zenit at similar price.

Ai I’ve seen you before putting ridiculous comments and I commented before so I’ll do it again. Are you a complete an utter retard or something? have you finished playing football manager and got your head out of your arse yet? Do you want us to buy different supporters as well or are we allowed to at least keep them?
You have got to be the biggest gimp on the internet, seriously you are an idiot, a fully blown cat fingering idiot. Stop sucking your dad off, get that dildo out your arse and get in the real world. Muppet
Know I’m sick of FIFA manager gamers thinking how easy it is coz team, including prices looks good.well sorry but teams don’t want to sell for your amount if at all,so big lists who comes & who goes isn’t realistic,if you sell & can’t buy all you want its religation, next you see Rodgers doing his rebuilding remember can’t be done in one go.I’d like to see mertens& Eriksson if poss & at the back there’s a few to choose from incl.devrij, cissoko, dikalite,Williams etc.we can let skrtel& coates go also Carroll, spearing,Pacheco, assaidi but Henderson stays for me,he’s really coming on,shelvey on loan as still to rash in tackling,Reina back in form he’s a red-keep him !
I don’t know from where this supposed interest in Sanchez from Livperpool come from? There is no way he’s for sale and certainly not to Liverpool.
