How this exciting Spanish transfer target could inspire Liverpool to greater glory:

Liverpool have already snapped up Fabio Borini and Joe Allen, but there work in the transfer market looks far from done. With Daniel Agger’s future uncertain, there’s been much talk about the Reds signing a central defender. Beyond that, Liverpool seem to be hunting down targets that can help provide more threat down the wings.

I think it’s fair to say that Liverpool’s wingers flattered to deceive last season. Whilst Jordan Henderson has his young age as an excuse, Stewart Downing simply looks out of sorts and unable to perform to the level required of him. His glory days at Aston Villa are long behind him and he’s just been unable to make the step up.

So who can Liverpool look towards to help provide a little more cut and thrust down the wings?

The Reds have been linked pretty heavily to Barcelona starlet Christian Tello (Source: The Telegraph).

The 20-year-old forward has bags of potential. He’s earned a reputation for his pace, close control and confidence on the ball. Liverpool fans will be amazed at just how direct he is, having suffered at the hands of ponderous wingers for the last season or so.  He loves to take on his man, put on the after-burners and lunge towards the opponent’s goal. He still has to add goals to his game, but you get the feeling that he’ll add this to his repertoire soon enough.

He’s the kind of player that looks absolutely fantastic on a youtube compilation. He’s a long way away from being a complete package, but he has the potential to kick-on and become a ‘special’ player, a world-beater. During his best moments the ball seems to be tied to his feet and he’s capable of beating anybody.

I won’t deny that he has the capacity to frustrate. Not everything he tries pays off. That doesn’t change the fact, however, that he’s the exact kind of young talent that would enthuse life into this drifting Liverpool side.

As of yet, there’s no indication how much Barcelona will ask for him. If it’s at reasonable, however, I hope that Brendan Rodgers springs for him. It could be just what the Reds need to rocket them back into the top four.
