Why this transfer target just isn’t upto Arsenal quality

|

Another day another Arsenal rumour, it seems at the moment we are linked with just about everyone – the latest being Wigan star Charles N’Zogbia, who is believed to be valued at around £10 million this summer.

While I’m not 100% certain about this rumour, and it really could just be a case of the media clutching at straws, personally I cannot see Arsene Wenger going for N’Zogbia this summer despite his impressive performances this season.

I simply can’t see where he would fit into the team, especially when we currently don’t know who is leaving the club.

Charles N’Zogbia has recently announced that he wants to stay in the Premier League, but is uncertain if he will remain at Wigan, with the Frenchman thought to be eyeing up a move to a bigger club.

It has been reported that Newcastle have already had a £5 million bid rejected for his services, which given his current valuation, is totally understandable from Wigan’s point of view.

Now for argument sake, IF Arsenal are interested in N’Zogbia, then I really don’t see how he is going to solve our problems at the club, so focusing our attention on him would seem a strange way to go this summer. Although, saying that, it’s not the first time that we have been linked with the Wigan star.

In 2009 Arsenal were linked with a move for Charles N’Zogbia when he was at Newcastle, but nothing transpired. Then, in 2010, the same rumour was floating around, again nothing occurred.

However, Charles N’Zogbia did express his desire to play for Arsenal back in 2009. The Frenchman said:

‘Arsenal is the club that makes me dream the most in the Premier League.’

It is worth noting that most of the talk about a possible move to Arsenal is from Charles N’Zogbia himself, not that of the North London club (make what you will of this).

In my opinion, although N’Zogbia looks a decent player, I truly believe there are better options out there for Wenger and Arsenal to look at.

Would N’Zogbia make a good signing, or should Arsenal focus on other players this summer?

Who do you think the better options are

  • yozza says:

yep, great signing in my opinion, does more than Walcrap and the fat Russian game after game in a poor side!bring him on….

  • goonerboy says:

No-you are completely wrong- he would be a great player for us-one footed yes-but left footed-offers far more penetration, good crosser, can run with the ball and strong. Would also make us less vulnerable on the left.
Hes got to be worth 10m to us.

  • Farhan Daw says:

He’s a solid player, he could get into any team in the top half of the premier league, Wigan must cling onto him and Rodellaga, as they are arguably their best players, (BAR Al-Habsi who was on loan during the 10-11 season)

what AW is trying to do this season again is getting media attention to the players he wont sign so that the prices of the players he really would love to sign wont become higher than their real market value.

  • eto roulette says:

n’zogbia isn’t a player we need right now because its about time arsenal started buying some class and not average players like we have

  • adam says:

im sorry but nzogbia is arsenal quality! he has single handedly kept wigan in the premier league for 2 seasons, has completed the most dribbles out of any player in the league, and has scored 9 goals this season in a poor team. he would bring a different dimension than what we have, and could offer way more than the likes of bendtner and chamakh
